Now, onto this article's main point; I want to talk about the admins' bad habits of putting forth their point of view as authoritative without adequate grounds; the most common way this act is conveyed is by locking topics, so that is what we'll be discussing today.
Let's take a look at our first example.
In the above example, the admin throws out his points and locks the thread, but he fails to provide a reason.
There is absolutely no reason to lock that topic.
You might think the discussion could have ended there, but what if the main poster or someone else wants to argue the admin's point? It's like you're throwing out your points and locking the thread so that you won't have to stand your ground. Stop being cowards.
Let's take a look at our second example.
In the above example, the admin locks our topic and claims that our site only purpose is to be negative. That's not true, we're just stating the truth. Is there something wrong about that? This is the equivalent of blindfolding your users so that they can imagine they're in a happy place.
And to top it off, I've seen many admins locking topics because they don't want arguments going.
Well buddy, I don't think you know what arguing is. Arguing is the act of coming to an understanding, not fighting. If people are fighting, that's called bickering.
Still, I don't see why should my topic be locked because some random users decided to bicker in it.
It's like you're closing a whole shopping mall because two guys decided to bicker in it; it doesn't make sense.
So, please kindly punish the users who are bickering and leave the topic alone.
